My story
Hi friends, Welcome to Align Wellness LLC, I’m Rebeca Owner, Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher.
I received my first massage in ‘99 when I was pregnant with my daughter. At the time I was young, working and fairly active. Pre Natal massage was great and definitely helped with the aches and pains of a pregnant body. However once my kiddo was in the picture life got BUSY. So, massage stepped out of my life for awhile.
More than a few years later I was teaching skiing and snowboarding at one of the resorts. I was getting family passes and ski school lessons on the cheap. Absolutely in love with what I was doing, I never wanted it to stop! While I was pursuing this passion I completed my level one Snowboarding Certification. A portion of the Cert was on body mechanics, postural analysis as it relates to the sport and some basic kinesiology. I. Was. Hooked.

So I took a big detour and found myself at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, and in 2007 I enrolled in their Associate program, which included a specialized Certification in Orthopedic and Sports Massage. Perfect! I had found my place! Thoroughly excited, I consumed all that my program had to offer in the way of injury prevention, performance enhancement, rehabilitation, and movement. As a result, I immediately put my newly acquired skills to work on myself and all my friends. I was stoked! I was also, by that point, unfortunately, a single parent. I had to work and I had to work a lot.
Running on empty
I have worked at spas, in private practice, in chiropractic spaces, spa management and sometimes all at the same time. Kids are not cheap! But, I was also BIG into self care, which for me was riding, biking, backpacking, hiking, running, pretty much all the things, as much as I could. I was hitting life as hard as possible. As a consequence a bunch of minor injuries started to pile up and a few big ones too.
In 2012 following a mountain biking trip everything sort of swelled into the perfect storm and my body just stopped. I could literally do nothing. Severe nerve pain was shooting down both the front and back of my legs as well as my right arm and neck. There was no space for work, or anything else for that matter. It. Was. Crazy.
I was getting regular massage but it wasn’t really addressing my issues. Needless to say, I was nervous and unsure of what to do next. At that time I was uninsured and still a single parent. Not good, I know.

Well everyone says try yoga. Shoot, I would tell my clients to try yoga all the time! The problem was that I had tried yoga in the past and I personally didn’t like it. It wasn’t my thing. I’m not a bendy person, I like to move fast and sweat, I like high impact. I embodied all the standard anti yoga excuses. But it was also pretty obvious that none of that was working for me by this point.
So I sucked it up, found a free promotional week at a local yoga studio and I told myself I’d try it for a week. It couldn’t make things worse, I thought. So I went every single day for the entire week.
Aligning my wellness
And Wow! I wasn’t cured but I was definitely better! Pairing it with massage was the magic combo. I kept going and I kept feeling better and better. In 2015 I got my first 200hr Yoga Certification and in 2017 I got a second 200hr Yoga Certification. And in 2021 I completed my 300hr Yoga Certification. This Yoga thing has definitely hit a cord with my own wellness process. Through my own journey I’ve learned that wellness is a constant counterbalancing act. That Aligning Wellness takes work, tools and support.
So in 2019 “Align Wellness Studio” was born, with that exact idea in mind. We created a space where clients could gain tools and support while on there own journey through wellness. And I loved it!!
But then life got weird and a global pandemic happened. Thus “Align Wellness Studio” has counterbalanced and become “Align Wellness LLC” and in an effort to make it more convenient for our clients we have gone mobile!
